Solo Parenting Children with Special Needs- Interview with Expert Author Dr. Laura Marshak

10/17/2020

If you're the divorced, widowed, or an otherwise solo parent of a child with a disability, this interview discusses "Going Solo While Raising Children with Disabilities", an information-filled book by Dr. Laura Marshak on the challenges of single parenting children with disabilities, as well as coping and support strategies. While we primarily focus on divorce, any solo parent, or really any parent of a special needs child, solo or not, will get a lot out of this talk.

Twp Special needs moms chat: birthdays

10/10/2020

In this video, my friend, Kelly Brooks, and I talk about why birthdays are hard for parents of children with special needs. We talk about our birth experiences and why that makes birthdays difficult for us, as well as ideas we've had for gifts and parties. Around minute 29, I offer some advice I received from life coach Kari Ann Atkinson about how to reframe birthdays to make it a better experience for your and your family, and, most importantly, your special needs child.
